 Māori Whānau Hui - April 6, 2016

Tēnā koutou

We would like to invite you and your whānau to join us at a hui on the evening of Wednesday 6 April in our staffroom.

A small but very dedicated group of whānau have been working with us on a regular basis to help turn some of the ideas into actions. We would like to share these ideas with you and get your input.

The main areas we would like to talk about are…

  • Our Maori Education Plan - We have taken your ideas to develop a plan for our school.
  • Kapa haka - We have plans to get this started really soon. We are really excited to have a volunteer to lead this group.
  • Matariki activities - We have been planning learning activities for Matariki at our regular meetings. We are keen to add your ideas.

We are also very interested in hearing about any other ideas you have.

Our whānau group have suggested a pot luck dinner followed by sharing our progress and hearing your ideas about our next steps.

Child care will be available after dinner.

Please let us know if I can help answer any questions about the evening.

A reminder of the details:

Where: Onehunga Primary School Staffroom

When: Wednesday 6 April, 6pm

Pot Luck meal from 6pm

Hui from 6.30pm

We look forward to seeing you there.

We are in the process of developing a Māori Education Plan for our school. This will consist of a two year (odd and even year) programme for our classes and a strategic plan to develop this aspect of our school. We plan to share this for feedback late in Term 4 2015.

We have asked whānau to share ideas about what they would like to see happening in our school to support Māori learners. You can share your ideas by sending back the page in our newsletter or adding to this document.
Māori Whānau Coffee Morning
A group meet every second Thursday morning at 9.15am in the staff room to plan events and activities for our children. While we are just a small group, we hope to grow, and welcome any whānau members to come and join us.
We have a 'google doc' where we are collecting our ideas. You can access this here. You will need to request permission to access this page.

We are still in the processes developing this page. Please come back for more content and links soon.
